Contracts for the supply and installation of two (2) Nos of Mineral Processing Machineries and Equipment for SOMMEDI, Nasarawa State, was awarded to a contractor on 4th July, 2014, and payment of the sum of ₦51,928,467.00 (Fifty-one million, nine hundred and twenty-eight thousand, four hundred and sixty-seven naira) was fully made in 2016.
Further checks showed that the Agency adopt a single source procurement method without stating the justification as required by the Public Procurement Act 2007, PART VII, Section 42 (2b). Also, 80% mobilization fee was paid on each contract in contravention of section 35 of PPA (2007). It was also observed during inspection that the machines are yet to be installed three (3) years after the award and payment for the contract, against Financial Regulation 708.
