Audit observed that:
i. The NMCO failed to proactively issue bills in advance to its customers so as to adequately follow up with demand for the due payments.
ii. There was no policy of sending mails or using other easy and convenient means of contacting NMCO clients contrary to extant regulations, and
iii. NMCO has not been forwarding copies of its returns of arrears of revenue due from the time of inception to 31st December, 2019 (i.e 14 years) to the AuditormGeneral for the Federation as required by extant regulations.
The Director-General of NMCO is requested to:
i. Justify the non-compliance with extant regulations on revenue collections.
ii. Produce 14 years outstanding annual returns on arrears of revenue.
iii. In addition, sanctions in line with FR 3129 on sanctions for other offences, should apply.
