The sum of three hundred thousand naira (N300,000) was paid to a male officer of the Ministry as per payment voucher No. 26 of August 2020 for an investigative visit of Chinese officials on the establishment of Chinese consulate office in Awka. The visitors were to be provided flight tickets, souvenirs, chauffeur-driven vehicles, food and accommodation. There was no evidence on how the amount was utilized for the earmarked purpose
The permanent secretary was requested to obtain from the officer concerned the details backed with documented evidence of the sum of N300,000.00 was spent. Alternatively he should refund the sum of N300,000.00 to the public treasury for not applying the amount in accordance with His Excellency’s approval
