Audit observed that:
i. The immediate past Managing Director (MD) of the Authority continued to receive salary and rent subsidy from the coffers of the government for six (6) months, from January to June 2019, totaling 7,109,847.36 (Seven million, one hundred and nine thousand, eight hundred and forty-seven naira, thirty-six kobo) despite the fact that he had been disengaged as the Managing Director (MD) of the Authority from December 2018.
ii. The Nominal roll shows that current MD took over as Acting Managing Director, effective from Jan. 2019, while his substantive position started from June, 2019, and
iii. The total salary collected by the previous Managing Director for the period January to June 2019 was illegal and constitute an act of collecting government money without rendering services.
The Managing Director is requested to:
i. Provide reasons why the disengaged Managing Director was being paid after disengagement.
ii. Recover and remit to Treasury, the sum of 7,109,847.36 (Seven million, one hundred and nine thousand, eight hundred and forty-seven naira, thirty-six kobo).
iii. Forward evidence of remittance to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly, and
iv. Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to irregular payment specified in paragraph 3106 of the Financial Regulations.
