Context/Observation

N325m was received by the Ministry for 2013 Constituency Project, out of which N300m was in respect of Constituency Projects in Zamfara Senatorial Constituency, specifically at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau. Funds were diverted to purchase insecticide treated nets and chemical equipments and construct health centres in two locations in South East. However, files for the health centres were not produced for audit scrutiny raising doubt on the genuineness of the contracts. Officers involved in the diversion include the Permanent Secretary, Director, Finance & Accounts, Director Hospital Services, Ag. Director, Procurement and Ag. Director Food & Drugs.
