Context/Observation

I.Three officers who ought to have retired from the Service between 2010 and 2017, upon attaining the compulsory retirement age of 60 years were still in service as at the time of audit in January, 2020.
II.The affected officers were born in 1950, 1956 and 1957 respectively, and
III.The continued stay in service of the officers had cost government avoidable payment of salaries of N37,955,366.04

Legislative Recommendation

The Comptroller General is requested to:
I.Furnish reasons why officers who ought to have retired were in service beyond the statutory retirement dates.
II.Recover the sum of N37,955,366.04 and remit same the Treasury.
III.Forward evidence of remittance to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly.
IV.Otherwise, sanctions relating to prosecution by the EFCC specified in paragraph 3110 of the Financial Regulations.
