Audit observed that;
i. The Secretariat made payments totalling 27,000,600.00 (Twenty-seven million and six hundred naira) to members of staff of the Secretariat to attend training, workshop, conference and the other activities without any evidence or certificate of attendance to authenticate the geniuness of the activities; and
The expenditure could not be accepted as a legitimate charge to treasury and is therefore disallowed.
The Secretary is requested to:
i. Justify the payment of 27,000,600.00 for staff training and workshop without evidence of attendance and execution;
ii. Recover the sum of 27,000,600.00 and pay back to the Treasury;
iii. Forward evidence of payment to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly; and
iv. Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to irregular or wrong payment in paragraph 3106 of the Financial Regulations.
