Audit observed from the Authority’s vehicle records that eight (8) motor vehicles were retained by former Board Members and retired staff. It should be noted that motor vehicles used by government officials are not supposed to be in their custody immediately they leave office or be retained for their personal use on a permanent basis.

The Managing Director is requested to:
I.Recover the vehicles from the affected officers at the exact value they were at the time they were taken away, failing which, they should be recovered at their purchase price/value (to be provided by the Authority)
II.Forward evidence of compliance with (i) above to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly
III.Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to gross misconduct and non-payment for use of government property in paragraphs 3129 and 3113 of the Financial Regulations respectively should apply.
