The accounts submitted by the State Accountant-General indicates a zero naira closing balance as at 31st December, 2020. However, during the audit of accounts/records of the financial year under review, it was observed that the actual opening balance as at 1st January, 2021 stood at N48,641,545,70.
Non remittance of N48,641,545,70 at the closure of account as at 31st December, 2021 to the State treasury contradict the provision of the Public Finance Management Law, 2020 of Yobe State. Therefore, Officials responsible are required to abide the rule of law, and refunds the said amount to the treasury unit and furnish this office with treasury receipts.
