Context/Observation

Audit observed that:
i. Rent deducted from staff occupying government quarters totalling 1,270,300.00 and 1,150,750.00 in 2018 and 2019 respectively, amounting to 2,421,050.00 (Two million, four hundred and twenty one thousand and fifty naira) only, and electricity of 272,000.00 was diverted to an Anambra-Imo River Basin UBA Commercial Bank Account number 1000270710 for rent and Access Bank Ac number 00043314444 for electricity, and
ii. There was violation of government regulations which stipulate that such revenue should be paid into Treasury Single Account for onward remittance to Consolidated Revenue Fund.

Legislative Recommendation

The Managing Director is requested to:
i. Furnish reasons why internally generated revenue were not remitted to the Treasury.
ii. Recover the sum of 2,693,050.00 (Two million, six hundred and ninety-three thousand, and fifty naira) and remit same to the Treasury.
iii. Forward evidence of remittance to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly, and
iv. Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to failure to collect and account for Government Revenue specified in paragraph 3112 of the Financial Regulations.
