Context/Observation

I.There was account balance of N63,255.55 transferred from the Centre’s commercial bank account: Bank: UBA PLC; Account Number: 1015985313; and Account Name: Federal Medical Centre Keffi General Revenue Canteen
II.The account is still active as discovered from search on the account on e-payment platform, and
III.Several requests made to the Medical Director to provide the bank statement of the account or evidence of an account closure from the bank by the Audit team proved abortive.

Legislative Recommendation

The Chief Medical Director is requested to:
I. Provide reasons for the operation of a Commercial Bank Account
II.Provide evidence of approval from the Office of Accountant-General of the Federation to open and operate a commercial bank account.
III.Furnish the UBA bank account statement from January 2015 to December 2020, to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly.
IV.Otherwise, sanctions relating to gross misconduct stated in paragraph 3129 of the Financial Regulations will apply.
