Audit observed that:
i. Seven (7) payment vouchers totaling 123,320,916.72 (One hundred and twenty-three million, three hundred and twenty thousand, nine hundred and sixteen naira, seventy-two kobo) were for vehicle loan deducted from the senators’ salary arrears between July and December 2019, and
ii. There was no evidence to show that the above amount was remitted to the Treasury, acknowledged with Treasury Book 6 as required by extant regulations.
The Clerk to the National Assembly is requested to:
i. Furnish reasons why vehicle loans deducted from Senators’ salaries were not remitted to the Treasury.
ii. Remit the sum of 123,320,916.72 (One hundred and twenty-three million three hundred and twenty thousand nine hundred and sixteen naira seventy-two kobo) to the Treasury.
iii. Forward evidence of remittance to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly, and
iv. Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to failure to collect and account for Government Revenue specified in paragraph 3112 of the Financial Regulations.
