Audit observed that the sum of 1,491,637.72 (Òne million, four hundred and ninety one thousand, six hundred and thiry seven naira, seventy two kobo) for Value Added Tax (VAT) was not deducted from payment to contractors in respect of contract for supplies under capital development funds and overhead.
The Chief Medical Director is requested to:
i. Provide reasons why VAT was not deducted from payment to contactors.
ii. Recover and remit 1,491,637.72 (Òne million, four hundred and ninety one thousand, six hundred and thiry seven naira, seventy two kobo) to appropriate Tax Authority
iii. Forward evidence of remittance to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly, and
iv. Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to failure to collect and account for Government Revenue and demotion in rank prescribed by paragraphs 3112 and 3117 of the Financial Regulations respectively.
