Context/Observation

Audit observed that:
i. The sum of 19,102,000.00 (Nineteen million, one hundred and two thousand naira) accrued from the levy of 2,000.00 (Two thousand naira) collected from 9,551 passport applicants between January and December 2019 tagged ”Home Delivery Service” for processed International Passport; and
ii. This amount was not paid to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and there were no Treasury Receipts issued in contravention of the Financial Regulation.

Legislative Recommendation

The Comptroller-General NIS is requested to:
i. Justify and account for the sum of 19,102,000.00 (Nineteen million, one hundred and two thousand naira) to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly; and
ii. Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to failure to account for government revenue in paragraph 3112 of the Financial Regulations.
