I.A total of N33,662,378.97 was deducted as Stamp duty, Value added tax and Withholding tax respectively.
II.The total collection of N33,662,378.97 was remitted into a CBN account No. 3000069807 with the Nigeria Prison Service (now Nigerian Correctional Service) as the beneficiary, instead of actual remittance to the appropriate tax authorities.

Legislative Recommendation

The Comptroller-General is requested to:
i.Furnish reasons why Stamp duty, Value added tax and Withholding tax deducted were not remitted to relevant tax authorities as required by extant regulations.
ii.Recover and remit the sum of N33,662,378.97 and all accrued interest to appropriate tax authorities.
iii.Forward evidence of remittance particulars to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly
iv.Otherwise, sanctions relating to failure to collect and account for Government Revenue specified in paragraph 3112 (ii) of the Financial Regulations should apply.
