Audit observed that:
I.The sum of N9,070,000.00 was disbursed to Council members, principal officers of the university and some community members for sallah celebrations, Christmas celebrations, burial and wedding ceremonies, and
II.There was no evidence to show that the above expenditure was contained in the Appropriation Act.
The Vice Chancellor is requested to:
I.Provide reasons why expenditure not contained in the Appropriation Act was paid for.
II.Recover the sum of N9,070,000.00 and remit same to the Treasury.
III.Forward evidence of remittance to the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly.
IV.Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to irregular or wrong payment stated in paragraph 3106 of the Financial Regulations will apply.
