Audit observed that:
i. The Ministry awarded contracts amounting to 181,666,749.09 (One hundred and eighty-one million, six hundred and sixty-six thousand, seven hundred and forty-nine naira, nine kobo) to ten (10) companies in 2016 and 2017 for supplies and renovation, and
ii. The registration status of those companies could however, not be confirmed by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
The Permanent Secretary is requested to:
i. Provide reasons why contacts were awarded to unregistered companies.
ii. Recover the sum of 181,666,749.09 paid to ten (10) companies and remit same to the Treasury.
iii. Forward evidence of remittance to the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly, and
iv. Otherwise, apply sanctions relating to irregular payments, poor cash management and demotion in rank and transfer to another schedule specified in paragraphs 3106, 3115 and 3117 of the Financial Regulations respectively.
