Context/Observation

On payment voucher no. 10 of July 2019, the sum of N250,000 (two hundred and fifty thousand naira) was paid to the head of Accounts department being sponsorship to the 2019 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme ( MCPD) of the Association of National Accounts of Nigeria held at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
It was established in the audit that the head of accounts being a member of staff of the office of the accountants general had received funding for this particular purpose (training) through the office of the accountant general. It was thus wrong for her to have received another funding from the public treasury for the same training through the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development partners. It amounted to a double charge to the public treasury.
