As #Nigeria’s inflation hits 29.9%, essential commodities, including staples like rice, bread & more, are becoming increasingly unaffordable for the average Nigerian. Yesterday on Splash 105.5FM Ibadan, PLSI’s team examined the roles of #citizens and #government in addressing this issue.During the discussion, the team addressed the Nigeria Government proposed establishment of a commodity board. Among other recommendations was the necessity of investing in agricultural research, extension services, and infrastructure to enhance productivity & mitigate post-harvest losses.
Furthermore, the team highlighted the need for the implementation of price stabilization measures to ensure affordability, particularly for low-income households, as well as conducting regular assessments of policy impacts, establishing feedback mechanisms, and making adjustments as necessary. In parallel, citizens are encouraged to engage consistently and constructively and to advocate for and support initiatives that promote transparent, fair pricing and uphold quality standards in the market.
